Stephen and Donna Mealings have always had a keen interest in health and fitness and went about establishing the Frontrunner in 2005 in Ashburton. The original store was located on East Street Ashburton, however it didn’t take long for the shop to outgrow these premises, and make the shift across town to the newly built box complex at 28 Moore Street Ashburton. This site ticked all the boxes with plenty of shop and storage space, plus the added benefit of off street parking.

Frontrunner Ashburton has long been associated with Sports Footwear, Clothing, Accessories and Nutrition in Mid Canterbury since 2005.

Frontrunner has built up a large portfolio of brands and Sports that we cater for including Running, Walking, Football, Rugby, Netball, Hockey, Tennis, Squash, Fitness and many more.

We have well over 16 years of experience in a bricks and mortar store so you can be rest assured that we know our products inside out and have the reputation and knowledge to assist you for any purchase, be it instore or online.

We stock some of the biggest sports brands from across the globe. Our stock is continuously being updated with the latest releases from our suppliers. We love checking out the new and innovative brands with technologies that keep on pushing the sports boundaries.

For us, it’s all about supporting local. We hold seasonal information evenings for our local sports teams and address the importance of the correct footwear for not only game day but also at practice where a lot of injuries can occur.
